The Bible tells us that “To fear the Lord is to hate evil” (Proverbs 8:13.)
In a day when evil is loved instead of hated, when wrong is called right, and right called wrong, we need to call out to God to give us a revelation of the fear of the Lord.
We live in a day when it’s hard to tell the difference between a Christian and a non-Christian, since we both love the world so much. It’s time to call on God for revival.
That’s what this website and #fearGodfriday is all about — getting people to pray for a revival in the Church and an awakening in the world.
Will you make time every Friday to pray for revival? It may just be you alone. It may be with one or two others. Maybe it’s time to get groups together on Friday evening to plead with God to send a revival to your town, your city, your state or province, and your country. But it has to start somewhere, so why not with you? Why not right now?
#fearGodfriday may die after a few blog posts or a few Tweets, but what I’d really like to see is a movement that takes off — and goes way far beyond this website. I long for the day when some Christian at school, as the teacher begins to teach, say, “Teacher, it’s fear God Friday. We need to pray before you start teaching.”
How awesome it would be when a few co-workers drop to their knees at noon on Friday to say, “God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us and on all that work at this place.”
And it would be mind-blowing if the leaders of various countries say, “Today is fear God Friday. The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and I need God’s wisdom to lead this country. God, please give me Your wisdom by teaching me the fear of the Lord.”
Maybe it’s all just some pipe dream, but I don’t think so. It has happened before…in schools and in workplaces. Even presidents have taken time to kneel before the Creator.
The videos by J. Edwin Orr on the Videos page are filled with story after story of how God used ordinary people to pray down revivals, young and old. In 1904, God used a 16-year old girl who simply stood up and testified, “I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart,” and the great Welsh Revival was begun. In the Hebrides, God used two ladies in their 80’s to pray down revival in their village. God can use YOU today. You just need to humble yourself and pray.
Will you do it?
